Laser Hair Removal for Indian Skin in Hounslow
Laser hair removal for Indian and South Asian skin is one of our most in-demand specialist treatments. South Asian skin tones — spanning Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, and mixed-heritage backgrounds — typically fall in the Fitzpatrick III–V range, with higher melanin levels that require careful laser selection and calibration. At Skin Health Practice in Hounslow, we have treated hundreds of South Asian clients and have built specialist expertise in delivering safe, effective results for this skin type. We use the ND YAG 1064nm laser as our primary technology for Indian skin, paired with Alexandrite for lighter South Asian tones where appropriate.

Why Indian and South Asian Skin Needs the Right Laser
South Asian skin typically contains more melanin than lighter European skin — which is what gives it its beautiful warm tone, but also means that laser settings must be more carefully calibrated. The risk with incorrect laser treatment on South Asian skin is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH): dark marks caused by the skin reacting to heat. This is why generic IPL devices and diode lasers set at default parameters for lighter skin can cause damage when used on Indian skin. Many of our clients come to us having had unsatisfactory or even damaging experiences at other clinics — some have been refused treatment entirely because the clinic didn't have appropriate technology. The right laser for Indian skin is the ND YAG 1064nm, which has a longer wavelength that bypasses epidermal melanin and targets the hair follicle directly. When used at the correct settings, it is both highly effective and safe for South Asian skin.
Hounslow — Our Community
Skin Health Practice is located in Hounslow, at the heart of one of London's largest and most vibrant South Asian communities. We serve clients from Hounslow, Southall, Hayes, Harrow, Wembley, Ealing, Brentford, and across West London. Our team understands the specific skin and hair concerns that affect South Asian clients — from thick, coarse body and facial hair to hormonal conditions like PCOS that are more prevalent in South Asian women. We are proud to be a trusted clinic for the local community, and many of our clients come to us through word of mouth from friends and family.
Treatment Areas Popular with South Asian Clients
South Asian clients commonly seek laser hair removal for facial hair — upper lip, chin, jaw, and sideburns, which can be particularly prominent in women with PCOS or hormonal imbalances; underarms and arms; full legs; bikini and Brazilian; back; and the stomach and chest in men. Face and underarms are often the first priority as these areas have the greatest daily impact on confidence. We can treat any area where unwanted hair is a concern and create a full-body plan if desired.
How Many Sessions Do I Need?
Most South Asian clients need 6 to 8 sessions for body areas and 8 to 10 for facial hair, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Hair grows in cycles, and multiple sessions are required to catch follicles during their active growth phase. South Asian hair tends to be coarser and darker than lighter hair types, which is actually an advantage for laser treatment — dark hair absorbs laser energy very efficiently. Hormonal hair growth associated with PCOS or other hormonal imbalances may require additional sessions and ongoing maintenance. Your practitioner will give you a personalised recommendation at your consultation.
What Results Can I Expect?
After a full course of sessions, most South Asian clients achieve 70 to 90% permanent hair reduction. Any regrowth is typically much finer and lighter than before. The results for South Asian skin with the ND YAG laser are outstanding — dark, coarse hair absorbs laser energy efficiently, meaning each session is highly effective at disabling the targeted follicles. Regular maintenance sessions (once or twice a year) after your initial course keep residual growth in check.
Before and After Care
Before each session: shave the treatment area 24 to 48 hours beforehand. Do not wax, thread, or use depilatory creams for 4 weeks prior. Avoid sun exposure and self-tan for 4 weeks. Come with clean, product-free skin. After treatment: apply SPF 30 or higher to all treated areas. Avoid sun exposure, heat (saunas, steam rooms, hot showers), and intense exercise for 48 hours. Do not use retinoids or exfoliating acids for 48 hours post-treatment. Hairs will shed from treated areas over 2 to 3 weeks — this is the hair being expelled and means the treatment is working.
