Chemical Peel Treatments in Hounslow
A chemical peel is one of the most effective and versatile tools in professional skin treatment. By applying a precisely formulated acid solution to the skin, chemical peels accelerate cell turnover, resurface the outer layers, and stimulate collagen production — addressing everything from dullness and uneven texture to acne, pigmentation, and fine lines. At Skin Health Practice in Hounslow, we use medical-grade peeling agents from mesoestetic and other leading professional brands, tailored to your specific skin concern, type, and tone.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?
Chemical peels work by applying an acid solution to the skin that temporarily disrupts the bonds between dead skin cells on the surface. As the outer layers shed over the days following treatment, they are replaced by newer, healthier skin cells with improved texture, tone, and clarity. Deeper peels penetrate further into the dermis, triggering a wound-healing response that stimulates collagen production and more significant remodelling. The depth of the peel — superficial, medium, or deep — determines the intensity of the results and the recovery time involved. At Skin Health Practice, we primarily use superficial to medium-depth peels that deliver meaningful results with minimal downtime, making them suitable for regular treatment and busy lifestyles.
Types of Chemical Peels We Offer
We offer a range of professional peels selected for different skin concerns and types. Salicylic Acid Peel (BHA): A deeply penetrating peel ideal for oily, acne-prone, and congested skin. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, meaning it breaks through sebum to clear blocked pores, reduce blackheads, and calm active breakouts. Excellent for oily and combination skin types. Azelaic Acid Peel: Gentle yet effective, azelaic acid targets inflammatory acne and post-acne hyperpigmentation (PIH). Particularly well-suited for darker skin tones where stronger acids can trigger further pigmentation. Glycolic Acid Peel (AHA): A water-soluble alpha-hydroxy acid derived from sugar cane. Highly effective for brightening dull skin, improving texture, reducing fine lines, and addressing mild sun damage. Suitable for normal, dry, and combination skin. Mandelic Acid Peel: A gentler AHA suitable for sensitive skin and darker skin tones. Mandelic acid has a larger molecular size than glycolic, meaning it penetrates more slowly and is less likely to cause irritation or pigmentation changes. Mesoestetic Professional Peels: We use the mesoestetic range of professional peel systems, including their depigmentation, anti-ageing, and resurfacing protocols — backed by clinical evidence and widely used in aesthetic medicine.
What Conditions Can a Chemical Peel Treat?
Chemical peels are among the most clinically versatile skin treatments available. They are effective for: Acne and congested skin — salicylic and azelaic peels clear pores and reduce breakouts. Post-acne hyperpigmentation — peels accelerate the fading of dark marks left after spots heal. Melasma and sun-induced pigmentation — specific depigmentation peels combined with the right home-care can significantly reduce stubborn discolouration. Fine lines and early signs of ageing — regular glycolic or mandelic peels improve skin texture and stimulate collagen for a firmer, more youthful appearance. Uneven skin tone and dullness — peels remove the outer layer of dead, discoloured skin to reveal brighter, more uniform skin beneath. Enlarged pores and rough texture — regular resurfacing with chemical peels keeps pores clearer and skin surface smoother over time.
Chemical Peels for Darker Skin Tones
Chemical peels can be used safely on darker skin tones when the correct acid type and concentration is selected by an experienced practitioner. Stronger acids such as high-concentration glycolic or TCA carry a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in Fitzpatrick types IV–VI — making the pigmentation worse rather than better. At Skin Health Practice, we have extensive experience treating clients with South Asian, East Asian, African, and Middle Eastern skin and consistently choose peel protocols that are appropriate for darker skin: typically starting with mandelic or azelaic acid, building gradually, and always pairing treatment with targeted depigmentation home-care and SPF.
Our Signature Skin Treatment
For clients seeking a comprehensive skin transformation, we offer our Signature Skin treatment — a powerful multi-modal protocol that combines chemical peeling with medical-grade laser, LED light therapy (blue or red depending on the concern), and microneedling. The laser targets pigmentation and superficial redness; LED therapy addresses bacteria or inflammation; microneedling stimulates deep collagen; and the peel resurfaces and brightens. This combination achieves results that a single treatment alone cannot produce — and is particularly popular with clients who want significant improvement in a structured course of appointments. A patch test is performed 48 hours before the first Signature Skin session.
What to Expect — Before, During, and After
Before your peel, you will have a skin consultation to determine the most appropriate peel type and strength. Avoid retinoids, AHAs, and BHAs in your home skincare for 48 to 72 hours before treatment. During the peel, you will feel a tingling or mild burning sensation as the acid is applied — this is normal and passes quickly. The peel is left on for a specified time, then neutralised. The full appointment takes around 30 to 45 minutes. After a superficial peel, the skin may appear slightly flushed for a few hours and then look normal. Some dry, flaking skin over the following 2 to 5 days is typical as the treated layer sheds — do not pick or peel the skin manually. Avoid sun exposure and apply SPF 50 daily throughout your treatment course. Avoid retinoids and exfoliating actives for at least 48 hours post-treatment.
